SEEKONK - The race for one three-year seat on the board of selectmen will pit Chairman Francis Cavaco against former Selectman John Turner.

Turner was defeated in his bid for re-election last year.

Other positions up for grabs in the April 5 election include two seats on the school committee. The terms are three years each.

School committee Chairman Fran Creamer is running for re-election and will be challenged by Michael Kreyssig and James Reinke.

Michelle Hines will challenge Town Moderator Harold Devine for a two-year term for that post. Devine succeeded Dave Parker last year when Parker was elected to the board of selectmen. Michael Bourque and Sandra Foulkes are running unopposed for two five-year seats on the planning board. Tom Clancy is running unopposed for a three-year seat on the board.

Robert Caruolo is running unopposed for a seat on the board of assessors. Christine Allen is running against Larry Havrylik for a seat on the water commission. Michael Durkay, Ann Caldwell, and Shane Halajko are running unopposed for three open seats on the library board of trustees.

Joseph Motta Jr. is running unopposed for a seat on the housing authority.

Polling will be done at the Seekonk High School gymnasium. Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m.
